Thank you for your interest in Portland Waldorf School.

Your inquiry is part of a rising wave of interest in Waldorf education in Oregon and around the world.  People are drawn to Portland Waldorf School because of its caring, personal atmosphere, alive classrooms, balanced academics, and effective approach that integrates the arts throughout the curriculum.

Founded in 1982, PWS is one of the largest Waldorf schools in the Pacific Northwest, and is one of only six (out of 25) in the Northwest that is a full member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America. PWS is fully accredited by AWSNA as well as the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS). The high school has approximately 100 students and 21 faculty/staff. The entire school has approximately 375 students and 50 faculty/staff.

The primary goal of Waldorf education is to instill in children a life-long love of learning and to help children meet their highest potential. However, one by-product of Waldorf education is that 95 percent of students who graduate from Waldorf high schools in the United States go on to finish at least a bachelor’s degree. "Waldorf education draws out the best of qualities in young people. While this is not an instant process, the values they learn provide a lifelong platform from which to grow."
