We provide on-site care in two distinct aftercare programs, one for Kindergarten children and one for children in the grades. Aftercare is available at PWS on all days school is in session, except on early dismissal days before school breaks. The form and content of aftercare is an “outbreathing” in contrast to the “inbreathing” that characterizes the formal school day. It is a nourishing opportunity for creative play and for establishing and deepening friendships.

Families sign up for aftercare using prepaid monthly aftercare forms. We accept drop-ins, space allowing, using a pre-paid punch card. Families may pay an annual flat fee but still need to fill out a monthly schedule.  Please contact the office at 503-654-2200 for current fees.

Early Childhood Aftercare Program

12:30-3:30 pm

The Early Childhood aftercare program provides a weekly rhythm of opportunities for resting, creative play, nourishment, and active play for children in the mixed-age Kindergartens. The program takes place in one of the kindergarten rooms and has a regular schedule that includes an early afternoon nap and a nutritious mid-afternoon snack.

Grades Aftercare Program

1:30-5:30 pm

The program serves children in Grades 1-4; children in Grades 5-8 are admitted at the discretion of the provider. In general, Kindergarten children do not join the grades aftercare. We offer a nutritious mid-afternoon snack.

“That's what is so wonderful about Waldorf education. You’re exposed to all these different ideas, but you’re never given one view of it. You’re encouraged to think as an individual…."
