Advanced Art for Teens Summer Camp: Meet Your Teacher Nina Churchill
Are you a high school student looking to expand your artistic skills this summer? Spend the weeks exploring opportunities to deepen your artistic skills and process tailored to high school in level, skills and subjects. In each week the emphasis will begin with process, exploration and furthering your artistic ideas. Each week will have a thematic emphasis and will consider individual interests and goals as much as possible:
Week 1 June 22-26: Landscape Focus
Week 2 June 30-July 3: Figurative Focus
Week 3 July 6-10: Life, Still Life and Design Focus
All Sessions run 9am-1pm
Each week our processes will consistently be founded in drawing and observation, emphasizing composition, mark-making qualities and all related drawing skills – all in the effort to explore. We will look at ways of developing ideas, the myriad of visual choices artists employ, and how this can stretch or develop an idea or individual style.
From those foundations we will enjoy extending into various subjects and interests, including assorted observations from life, including figurative and landscape. Those subjects will be explored further through painting, in collage, and extending many drawings into color. There will be opportunities to work in a variety of drawing and painting media, including assorted graphite and charcoal options, chalk and oil pastels, collage materials and various paints. During some of our projects these media will be mixed and combined, especially when creating collages.
