PWS Wolfpack Ranked #15 in the United States

Our High School Ultimate Team Is Among the Nation’s Elite

Wolfpack Update: Read about Wolfpack players at the 2023 YCC National Championships.

The PWS high school Ultimate Frisbee team has much to celebrate this year. In early May the Wolfpack traveled to Tracy, California, to compete in a two-day tournament called Spaghetti Western, one of the most competitive in the U.S. and the only West Coast tournament that serves as a qualifier for High School Nationals.

Portland Waldorf Wolfpack made it all the way to the finals, where we lost a heartbreaking game to perennial rivals South Eugene on a final score of 8 - 9. It was a tough loss. Equally, it underscores how impressive the PWS Ultimate program has become: We are a small team who competes at the highest level against large public schools across Oregon, Washington, California, Utah and beyond.

And for the first time in PWS history, our high school Ultimate team is ranked #15 in the United States.

It’s an accomplishment that’s been years in the making. Ultimate Frisbee is a part of the Portland Waldorf experience: pick-up games at recess, school teams and summer leagues. Over the past decade PWHS graduates have been selected for U.S. National teams, earned scholarships to compete at the collegiate level and drafted to play on professional Ultimate teams including Portland’s own pro AUDL club, Nitro.

This group of athletes is truly special. And they’re not done yet! The Oregon State Championships will be held in Portland at the end of the month. Our Wolfpack team expects to meet South Eugene once again in the finals. Come out and support your Portland Waldorf Wolfpack!
