Día de los Muertos

By Maestro Victor

El Día de los Muertos is the day when our Ancestors, our family members from the past, come to be with us. They come to share our memories and our food and to enrich our lives. They are here to let us know that we are not alone and that they are always close to us – to teach us, to give us guidance and to protect us.

To welcome our ancestors and beloved friends and pets, we make an ofrenda, alter, so that they can find us. Learn more about creating your own sacred alter here.

We fill our hearts with warmth, with light, and gratefulness. We serve them food and drinks that they loved. But most of all, we fill our hearts with their memories, because we wouldn’t be here without them. And even though we might not see them, our Ancestors are always with us in the air we breathe and the ground we touch. To our families.
